About Yolélé
Yolélé is a Senegal-born, Brooklyn-based social enterprise.
Our Purpose:
To create economic opportunity for smallholder farming communities; to support their biodiverse, regenerative, and climate-resilient farming systems; and to share the vibrant flavors of Africa with the world!
Pierre Thiam
Co-Founder + President
Pierre Thiam is a celebrated chef, author, entrepreneur, and environmental activist. Born and raised in Dakar, Senegal, he is known for his innovative cooking style, at once modern and eclectic, yet rooted in the rich culinary traditions of West Africa. He founded Yolélé to create social and environmental impact on a global scale through representation of West African foods.
His critically acclaimed New York restaurant Teranga, with locations at The Africa Center in Harlem and at The Hugh in Midtown, introduces healthy fine-casual fare directly sourced from farmers in West Africa. Pierre is also the author of three cookbooks including his latest, The Fonio Cookbook.
