Dakar, the capital of Senegal, bustles with people from all over the world who bring their food with them. Our Dakar Curry Fonio Pilaf is mild and warming, with turmeric and pops of sweet currants. Pair with a stir fry, ratatouille or lentils.

Fonio, currants, carrot, spices, salt, contains 2% of less of dried yeast, sunflower oil, shallots, turmeric, scallions.

Stovetop

  1. In a pot with a lid, bring 1 ⅓ - 1 ½ cups of water to a boil, then stir in contents of the package. Bring back to a boil In a pot with a lid, coat contents of package well with 1 tablespoon of oil (optional). Turn heat to high, add 1 ⅓ cup of water and bring to a boil. 
  2. Stir, cover and turn heat to low for 1 minute.remove from heat.
  3. Let sit covered for 5 minutes, then fluff with a fork. Serve hot or cold, with anything or on its own.

Microwave

  1. Mix 1 package with 1 ⅓ cups of water in a large microwaveable bowl.
  2. Cover tightly and microwave for approximately 2 minutes.

Let sit covered 3-5 minutes, then fluff with a fork. Serve hot or cold, with anything or on its own.

These preparations will give you a light and fluffy fonio. Too wet? Cook a bit longer. Too dry? Add a spoonful of water, cover, and cook a minute more. Fonio never embarrasses the chef! Or for a creamier texture, use more liquid and stir it up.
