Ingredients
- BURGER
- ¼ cup Greens! Fonio Pilaf, cooked according to package and cooled
- 1 pound lean ground turkey
- ½ medium red onion, grated
- ½ cup chopped spinach
- 2 tablespoon chopped cilantro
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- salt + pepper to taste
- tablespoon avocado oil
- AVOCADO SCHMEAR
- 1 ripe avocado
- 1 tablespoon cilantro
- 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- salt + pepper to taste
- BURGER FIXIN'S (OPTIONAL)
- 1 head iceberg lettuce
- 1 beefsteak tomato
- 1 red onion
- sliced pickles
- alfalfa sprouts
Preparation

Step 1
In a large mixing bowl, combine all burger ingredients and mash together using a fork. Shape mixture into four ¾-inch thick patties using your hands.

Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat and add avocado oil once hot.

Add all four burgers if they fit without crowding the pan, otherwise work in batches, and sear for six minutes on each side, or until they reach 160°F internal temperature. Remove from heat and let rest for 3 minutes.

While your burgers rest, prepare the avocado schmear. Combine all ingredients in a small bowl bowl and mash with a fork.

Assemble your turkey burgers with the condiments of your choice and a whole grain bun or lettuce wrap. Enjoy!
